A hair pomade is traditionally a "semi-solid" ... "hair-styling product" that including waxes, glues, clays, and a variety of substances that are usually thick in consistency (see Alterna Hair Pomades ) . The "heavy-ness or thickness" of the product is controlled by placing a small amount in the palm of the hand and rubbing with your fingertip to obtain a reduced amount on the fingertips so you can get the desired result when applied to your hair. Reducing the amount of product on the finger tips before applying to your hair give you the control and allows you to form your hair, to make waves, reduce volume (by bringing the hair closer to your head)  to reduce the  "frizz"   in your hair and to add shine.
